In 2019 the Soil Health Institute (SHI) collected 14,200 soil samples at 124 long-term ag research sites across North America, partnering with more than 90 site scientists and 5 soils labs, including the Cornell Soil Health Lab.
The goal of the project was to evaluate 31 soil health indicators that predict the sustainability and productivity of tested soils.
The Furrow provides an overview of SHI’s efforts to determine which of these indicators best reflect a soil’s health and productivity. New data is coming soon, and we’ll report developments as they are shared.
