The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets offers a Land Trusts Grants Program. The program’s fifth round is called “Farmland Protection”, and applications are now open.
The program helps counties and municipalities conserve land for agricultural use, which helps New York secure food security, protect jobs, and protect our environment for generations to come. Round 5 of the program aims to help agricultural landowners protect their land, connect willing landowners to farmers interested in leasing or buying viable agricultural land, and highlight on-farm marketing, production, and agritourism opportunities for preserved farms.
Proposals for the program are due November 17, 2023.
