Deborah Aller 40 under 40 Honoree with quote

By Kitty Gifford

The New York Soil Health team is thrilled that our own Deborah Aller was recognized by Fruit Growers News and Vegetable Growers News as one of this year’s Fruit + Vegetable 40 Under Forty honorees! This award honors the next generation of leaders driving positive change across the industry.

“Soil health is the foundation of resilient farming systems. I’m honored to be recognized and to work alongside New York’s farmers and agricultural stakeholders, helping to implement practices that protect and enrich our soil for future generations,” said Aller.

Deborah is a Senior Extension Associate at Cornell University, where she plays an integral role in the New York Soil Health Initiative. Her applied research and extension activities are focused on helping farmers across the state adopt sustainable soil management practices, with a particular focus on perennial fruit crop systems. With a Ph.D. in soil science, Deborah also leads efforts to incorporate biochar and other organic amendments to enhance soil health.

The Fruit + Vegetable 40 Under Forty awards program will celebrate the honorees in person at the Great Lakes Vegetable & Farm Market EXPO in Grand Rapids, Michigan, this December.

Congratulations to Deborah and this year’s honorees for contributing to a healthier, more sustainable agricultural future!
