New York Soil Health (NYSH) proudly acknowledges Unadilla Community Farm’s outstanding commitment to soil health and sustainable farming practices. The farm has been recognized as a Soil Health Champion for its commitment to soil health monitoring and improvement.
Unadilla Community Farm builds soil health and carbon levels through regenerative agroforestry that integrates annual vegetables with perennial fruit and nut trees, mushrooms, and herbs. They are committed to no-till, human-scale equipment, heavy mulch, crop rotation, and cover crops.
NYSH commends Unadilla Community Farm for aligning with Cornell University’s Soil Health Program benchmarks. Farms achieving soil health levels greater than the 75th percentile are recognized, with the 90th percentile representing aspirational goals within specific production environments.
Benchmarks based on the 75th and 90th percentiles offer realistic targets for farmers. They are available in an open-access publication and here.
