The New York Soil Health Initiative announces the opening of 2024 Soil Health Mini-Grant applications. Following the success of previous years, the program continues its commitment to supporting projects aimed at enhancing soil health across New York State.

In 2023, the New York Soil Health Initiative supported 13 organizations across 12 counties, facilitating soil health research, extension, and outreach activities that reached over 400 individuals.

“As we enter our third year, we’re encouraged by the growing interest in our Soil Health Mini-Grant program. We look forward to another round of impactful projects dedicated to advancing soil health practices statewide,” shared Debbie Aller, New York Soil Health program coordinator.

Applications for the 2024 mini-grants should be submitted by Monday, May 27, 2024, with decisions announced on Saturday, June 1, 2024.

Eligible projects encompass research, extension, or outreach activities with a soil health component and travel grants for attending soil health-related workshops, field days, or events within New York State. Grant awards of up to $2,000 are available for eligible program applications, with a maximum of $500 for travel grant requests. This is your chance to make a significant contribution to soil health practices across the state.
