New York Certified Organic’s annual farmer-to-farmer meetings are designed to help local farmers make connections and build relationships to help them succeed.

  • 10 a.m.—Welcome and coffee
  • 10:15 a.m.—Harvest weed seed destruction

  • 10:45 a.m.—Lightning talks: experiences with alternative fertility sources
    • On-farm composting 
      Jean Bonhotal, Cornell Waste Management
    • Integrating animals in a grain rotation 
      Adam Murray, PRO Dairy
    • Selecting the most suitable cover crops for fertility
      Thomas Bjorkman, Cornell University
    • How to compare fertility sources, including off-farm manure
      Emily Reiss, CCA
  • Noon—Potluck lunch
  • 1 p.m.—Guided breakout group discussions
    Based on the morning topics as well as agronomic challenges and any new topics of interest
