This Soil Health Field Day is part of the NY Soil Health 2023 New York Soil Health and Climate Resiliency Field Day Series, in collaboration with CCE Suffolk Agricultural Stewardship Program.

 

 

4:00-4:10-Welcome and Introductions

 

Emily Lindback, Agricultural Stewardship Specialist Cornell Cooperative Extension

 

 

 

4:10-4:40 Soil amendments and Climate Resiliency

 

Debbie will discuss soil organic matter, how we test for it and increase it in our soil

 

Debbie Aller, Senior Extension Associate, Cornell University

 

 

 

4:40-5:10 Mycorrhizal Fungi

 

Emily will discuss mycorrhizal fungi inoculants, their plant associations, and

 

Emily Lindback, Agricultural Stewardship Specialist, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County

 

 

 

5:10-6:00 Farmer Panel and On Farm Production Tour

 

Compost, cover crops, and other soil amendments will be discussed

 

 

 

Drinks and light refreshments will follow

Scholarships are available through Cornell’s Farm Ops project for U.S. military veterans who reside in New York State. Veterans may request reimbursement for mileage, registration fees, and in some cases a $100 participation stipend to offset related costs.
